iPhone Apps Dig Up Dirt On Dates

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Many people bring a date to dinner during the holidays. Families often respond by asking too many questions and trying to get background information. Now there's a way to do that discretely by using your iPhone.

The PeopleFinders Network recently released two new apps: "Are They Really Single?" and "Stud or Dud." Each cost $.99 per download.

It can tap into criminal records, and even find out if the person is living with someone. All it needs is a few basic facts. It can even find information based on a person's phone number.

But it could cost an extra $10 to get even more detailed information.

Sachi Ainge from Hawaii said this app would come in handy.

"If you see a guy at a party," she said, "you get his information... right on your phone."

But some people are skeptical.

"I don't trust necessarily that all the information it's going to gather is going to be accurate. I'd rather get to know the person and find out for myself," said Aaron Horton, Frederick Md.

The information is available to anyone through public records. The iPhone makes it easier to get the information in a matter of seconds.
